(e)reading corner

This is a list of books I have read and which I can really recommend. These are about software testing, team build, software development, linguistics and anything loosely related to these topics. The list will be extended every now and then. Well, that’s at least the plan…

Testing

Crispin, L. & Gregory, J.: Agile Testing. Probably the most comprehensive introduction to agile testing. Get it here!

Keogh, L.: Behaviour-Driven Development. A book still in the making at leanpub and a nice introduction to BDD in general. Get it here!

Wynne, Hellesoy: The Cucumber Book. All about the cucumber tool and quite something about the gherkin language as well. Get it here!

Teams

DeVenzio: Runnin’ the show. Nice, little gem about leadership and teams. Mostly in a basketball environment, but there quite some general topics in there as well. Get it here!

Laloux, F.: Reinventing organizations. The evolution of organizations and collaboration. Get it here!

Software Development

Daoust, N.: UML Requirements Modeling for Business Analysts. Want to know about UML? Here you go. Get it here!

Patton, J.: User story mapping. If it isn’t already the reference book about anything concerning user stories, then it should be as soon as possible. Get it here!

Linguistics

Douglas Biber, Susan Conrad: Register, Genre, and Style. CUP, 2009. In depth detail on register analysis, which is IMHO a very undervalued approach to linguistic analysis. Get it here!

Taylor: Linguistic Categorization. OUP, 2009 provides an overview of prototype theory among other topics related to linguistic categorization. Get it here!
